| Bill C6 (An Act Respecting the Safety of Consumer Products) |
|
Once again, it is hard to see the colours of our MP’s that “allegedly” sit representing us in Ottawa. The Liberals wearing blue, the Tories wearing red and the NDP wearing a gag. The Canadian Action Party scratches its collective head trying to make sense of this assault on civil liberties known as Bill C6 that has already passed through the house and is resting with the Senate. Bill C6 allows inspectors to enter and cross private property without a warrant, and it releases them from liability for damages they may cause. Bill C6 has a schedule of listed products that can be added to by the minister without going to parliament for approval. This could be used to restrict the health freedoms of Canadians by limiting access to health supplements and organic products. Bill C6 is a reintroduced bill. It was introduced as Bill C52 in the 2nd session of the 39th parliament, but was realized for the farce it was and rejected. As Canada already has a Hazardous Materials Act that is, and has been suitable to our needs for many years, CAP sees no reason why this bill should have been introduced in the first place. If Bill C6 passes, citizens of Canada will be subject to the whim of the government without legal recourse. The Canadian Action Party believes this bill to be nothing more than a grab for power by the governing party at the expense of our citizens' civil liberties. CAP suggests other more suitable names for Bill C6 such as: Bill C6 (An Act Respecting the Negation of the Law of Trespass); and Bill C6 (An Act Respecting the Denial of Due Process) |
