The Canadian Action Party's Response to Proroguing Parliament Again: Why is the Canadian Parliament not Working for Canadians?

The Canadian Action Party does not believe proroguing Parliament at such an important time in Canada's history is in the best interests of Canadians.

With countless issues needing immediate attention, including, among others, the Afghan detainee debacle and the fragile state of the Canadian economy, what does our Prime Minister do? He closes down Parliament and takes a vacation!

Regretfully, the best interests of the people of Canada are not important to the present Prime Minister.

At a time when all Canadians are being misled as to the real economic situation, those out of work and money are getting hungry and cold. Those asking for help from any level of government are being ignored or cut off and real jobs are getting scarcer; yet we are being told "Bay Street is doing much better now thank you, so the economy is recovering"!

We need a government that's thinking for, and working for, the people who employ it.

The so-called "stimulus package" has ensured only that some work due to be done anyway is being done; the creation of new jobs does not result from this package, and what work is to be had, is only short term.  After the stimulus is over, how many more layoffs will there be?

It is indeed shameful that at this time our Prime Minister is playing political games and attempting to further reduce democracy in Canada, taking more power out of the hands of the people of Canada and concentrating it in the PMO.

Parliament has been so subverted in the last few years that it no longer represents the people of Canada.

There is only one way out of the present cycle of control by one major party or another, each equally directed by the lobbyists. Members of Parliament must answer to their constituents, not to the dictates of an authoritarian party structure. It is the responsibility of the voters to elect Members to Parliament that represent the Canadians in their Riding, not one political party or another:

Members that represent real change from our present status quo.

Members who will insist on the use of the Bank of Canada for financing the country.

Members who will insist on supporting the homeless, hungry, and sick, and help them get back on their feet.

Members who will allow us to create communities with agriculture, businesses, employment, and balanced development that make a polluting economy unnecessary.

We can develop new industries, utilise abandoned plants and mills, keep our production in Canada, and create first class products for ourselves and the world. Combined with a focus on strong, healthy communities, family farms, small businesses, and well-paid employment, Canadians will prosper.
The Canadian Action Party offers Candidates who are directly accountable to the constituents they serve. They are unafraid to speak their minds for their constituents and remake Canada as a democratic country. They are proud to stand for the people of Canada on the world stage.
We encourage all other political parties and Independent Candidates to offer the same accountability. All Canadians deserve a government that will implement their values and goals responsibly.

Now is not the time to send the government off on extended vacations, but back to work, with and for all Canadians. There is a lot of work to do, and Canadians are ready and willing to do it. Now is the time to look for members to represent us who think positively. We want a country about which our great grandchildren will be able to say confidently to the rest of the world...

"Welcome to Canada!"
